On 12 August 2024, UP Open University (UPOU) Project LAKBAY participants composed of members of the San Antonio Trolley Organization (SANTO), women representatives from Los Baños, and Filipino and Taiwanese youth made a courtesy visit to UP President Angelo A. UPOU Project Lakbay to Fly Trolley Drivers to Taiwan

Seven trolley drivers and one youth representative from the trolley community of San Antonio, Los Baños, Laguna, will visit Kaohsiung, Taiwan on 24 September 2024. They have been selected as participants of Project LAKBAY (Learning Actively through Knowledge-Based Appreciation for Youth: A Youth Cultural and Learning Immersion Camp), a project of UP Open University and EduConnect Southeast Asia Association. With the theme "STEM Education Towards Education 4.0", 14 scholars of the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) who are currently enrolled in the PhD in Education program offered by the Faculty of Education (FEd), University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) participated in the 5th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education (NRCSME) on 28 February - 1 March 2019 at Oriental Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay. UPOU's PhD in Education program has been a recipient of DOST-SEI's scholarship program since 1995.
