The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Gender Concerns (OGC) conducted a webinar on Gender-responsive and Feminist Research on 3 June 2021, 2PM to 5PM.   Dr. Nathalie Africa-Verceles, Director for the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies, was Resource Person of the webinar. Dr. Africa-Verceles discussed the basics of engendering research, considerations in related literature, methodology, and theoretical frameworks. She also shared her doctoral dissertation  titled “Livelihood practices of women in the informal economy: Forging pathways towards a feminist solidarity economy.“  The webinar aimed to help UPOU faculty, staff and students in developing gender-focused research proposals. The eight episode of the UP Open University’s (UPOU) OPEN Talk was a delve on the topic of media literacy and fake news. Titled “Media Literacy: Iwasan maging biktima ng fake news,” the episode featured two experts who both lead communication offices in an education and a science institution. Dr. Joane V. The seventh episode of the University of the Philippines Open University’s (UPOU) OPEN Talk featured a discussion on depression and anxiety. This was held on 2 June 2021, 6PM via the UPOU Networks and UPOU Networks Facebook Page.  Dr. Dinah P. Nadera served as the resource person for the episode. The OPEN Talk Episode entitled “Para-Paraan Yan!” was held on 19 May 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM via live streaming. This OPEN Talk episode featured another discussion on teaching reading during remote learning. The website of The Cordillera Review (TCR), the official research journal of the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB), was launched in a virtual program held online, 17 May 2021. Published through the Cordillera Studies Center (CSC), the TCR is a multidisciplinary refereed journal dedicated to studies on Philippine culture and society, with emphasis on research pertaining to the Cordillera region and Northern Luzon, Philippines. Dubbed as Journal of Philippine Culture and Society, its first issue was released in March 2009 with Prof. Delfin Tolentino, Jr. as editor-in-chief. The University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the Student Regent (OSR) in coordination with the UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Student Affairs (OSA) hosted the virtual Student Summit 2021 with the theme #SulongUP: UP Fight Back.
