Amidst the threat of COVID-19, 12  University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) students continued to heed the call of volunteerism across the country. Their volunteer efforts, done in coordination with various private institutions, government and non-government organizations, were reflected in the documentation survey released by the UP Open University Ugnayan ng Pahinungod (OUPahinungod) on 25 March 2020.  Of the 12  students that responded to the survey, five students were from the Faculty of Education (FEd), four were under the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS), and three were students from the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS).  [...]

Helpdesk to aid UPOU students in time of COVID-19 outbreak The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Student Affairs (OSA) launched an online tool to respond to the concerns of UPOU students amid the COVID-19 outbreak. It has been the tradition of the UP Open University (UPOU) to hold a blood donation drive every April. This 2019, the UPOU Blood Donation Drive was held on 10 April at the UPOU Oblation Hall in Los Banos, Laguna. Of the 78 volunteers, there were 45 successful blood donors. Despite a decrease in the number of successful donors compared to previous years, most of the donors this time were employees of the university. The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), together with the Guidance and Counseling Division of the Office of Student Affairs, UP Los Banos (UPLB), conducted Life Coaching Seminar-Workshops on 11 and 18 March 2019. A free eye checkup was organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (OVCFA) through the Human Resources Development Office (HRDO). This was arranged in cooperation with Soltura Optical Clinic and was held on 20 February 2019 at the UPOU Oblation Hall in Los Banos, Laguna.
