University of the Philippines Open University Multimedia Center (UPOU-MC) Director Luisa A. Gelisan served as a resource person for a class under the Master of Science Education Program of the College of Education. The talk was done in Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Iligan City on 6 April 2019. It has been the tradition of the UP Open University (UPOU) to hold a blood donation drive every April. This 2019, the UPOU Blood Donation Drive was held on 10 April at the UPOU Oblation Hall in Los Banos, Laguna. Of the 78 volunteers, there were 45 successful blood donors. Despite a decrease in the number of successful donors compared to previous years, most of the donors this time were employees of the university. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) facilitated a workshop entitled "Designing Resource-based Teaching and Learning Materials and Instructional Media Resources for the UPOU faculty" on 23-24 April 2019. With the theme "STEM Education Towards Education 4.0", 14 scholars of the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) who are currently enrolled in the PhD in Education program offered by the Faculty of Education (FEd), University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) participated in the 5th National Research Conference in Science and Mathematics Education (NRCSME) on 28 February - 1 March 2019 at Oriental Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) held a Capability Building Program on Distance eLearning at Ifugao State University, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao on 2-3 April 2019 as part of their Cascading Best Practices Program, which aims to help capacitate other higher education institutions (HEIs) in utilizing technology in their mode of instruction.
