Los Banos— As the Philippines begins a recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is joining more than 100 universities around the world to focus the world on a critical question: What can we do this year to help solve climate change while supporting struggling communities that have faced joblessness, sickness and loss?  On 7 April 2021 at  9:30 a.m. (PST), UPOU will host a public webinar on the topic of “Climate Solutions: The Philippine Context”. UPOU Chancellor Bandalaria appointed as ICDE Ambassador for OER

Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU),  has been appointed by the International Council for Distance Education (ICDE) Secretary General Torunn Gjelsvik as an Ambassador for Open Educational Resources (OER). She  has also been appointed as a member of the ICDE OER Advisory Committee (OERAC). Dr. Felix Librero or Sir Lex as we fondly call him here at the University of the Philippines Open University ( UPOU) passed away on 16 March 2021.  I was blown away by the news. The DICT Mindanao Cluster 1 x UP Open University (UPOU) collab project dubbed as Enabling Teachers on Remote Teaching and Learning in the time of Pandemic (in partnership with UPOU) was shortlisted for a global prize at the 2021 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The entry was among the Top 20 nominees out of 582 projects submitted worldwide. 2021 APRU Global Health Case Competition Opens Soon

All UP Open University students are invite to participate in the 6th Annual Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Virtual Global Health Case Competition.
