Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), has been chosen by the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) as the recipient of the AAOU Meritorious Service Award 2021. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) recognized higher education institutions with outstanding internationalization initiatives in the monumental Awarding Ceremony of the First Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Award.  The award initiative, in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education, bestowed tangible recognition to HEIs that implemented internationalization initiatives even during the time of major disruption in education. The Cordillera Review journal website launched

The website of The Cordillera Review (TCR), the official research journal of the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB), was launched in a virtual program held online, 17 May 2021. Published through the Cordillera Studies Center (CSC), the TCR is a multidisciplinary refereed journal dedicated to studies on Philippine culture and society, with emphasis on research pertaining to the Cordillera region and Northern Luzon, Philippines. Dubbed as Journal of Philippine Culture and Society, its first issue was released in March 2009 with Prof. Delfin Tolentino, Jr. as editor-in-chief. UP Open University conducts Virtual Student Summit 2021

The University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the Student Regent (OSR) in coordination with the UP Open University (UPOU) Office of Student Affairs (OSA) hosted the virtual Student Summit 2021 with the theme #SulongUP: UP Fight Back.
