THAT’S A WRAP, E-SKOLARS! 👏🏻📸IN PHOTOS: The EDS 110: Education Professions Service Learning Option (SLO) students expressed gratitude for the attendees’ unwavering support at 'Being An Educator: Personal and Political Perspectives Towards the Sustainability of the Education Profession' last Saturday, April 26, at the UPOU Audio-Visual Room and via Zoom. The educational discussion was opened by Dean Charisse Reyes from the Faculty of Education, followed by Dr. Celeste Tayzon, Chair of the Bachelor of Education Studies Program. Distinguished speakers Ms. Jemima Reside, a Magna Cum Laude UPOU BES alumna, Asst. Professor Jason Pozon, the current president of the All Academic Employees Union - UPLB, and Mr. Antonio Tinio, the 1st nominee of the ACT-Teachers party-list, also shared their deep and meaningful teachings during the event. The combined 200+ onsite and online attendees gained greater insight into their career paths, their right to unionize, and the roles of educators in national policymaking. Privilege speeches were also provided for Mx. Mhark Ian Corpuz, Chairperson of the UPOU Committee on Elections, the Sinagtala party list, and Mx. Jaden Tomacruz, Chairperson of the UPOU University Student Council, as a gesture of appreciation for their presence during the program. 👩🏻‍💻As the organizing team’s main call to action, onsite attendees were given the opportunity to express their advocacies creatively and share their wishes for the education sector. Meanwhile, the organizing team crafted a banner with the message “ANG GURO NG BAYAN, NGAYON AY LUMALABAN” and hung it at the UPOU oblation with the help and support of the UPOU administrators. This milestone is a symbol of the ongoing struggles and resistance of future generations of students, teachers, educators, and all those in the sector who share the common goal of fostering meaningful learning amidst the challenges we face, such as budget cuts and the lack of livable wages. ✊🏻 In partnership with the UPOU University Student Council, The Cursor, the UPOU Faculty of Education, the UPOU BES Program, the UPOU ICTDO, and the UPOU Office of Public Affairs, the SLO Team 1 is humbly grateful to everyone who has shown their trust and faith in this educational discussion. 🌻This has been your EDS 110 SLO students— mga gurong mula sa bayan, tungo sa bayan. 💚❤️#BeingAnEducator#GuroNgBayan#EDS110SLO#UPOU ...
