The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) will hold its Virtual Congress on 28-29 April 2021 with the theme “Transforming Southeast Asian Education, Science and Culture in the Digital Age.” The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is a supporting partner for the event, along with other institutions around the world. The SEAMEO Congress 2021 serves as a platform for policymakers, teachers, researchers, and educators to exchange the effective policy, fruitful teaching experience and share new learning paradigms and practices in the digital age including the education disruptions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The SEAMEO Congress 2021 is hosted by SEAMEO together with the Ministry of Education of Thailand and Ministry of Education of Malaysia and co-organized by UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok), Thailand; Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for STEM Education (SEAMEO STEM-ED), Thailand; and SEAMEO Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability (SEAMEO SEPS), Thailand.
The aim of this year’s congress are: to provide a platform for conversations on innovations, breakthroughs and best practices in Education, Science and Culture to achieve SDG4 2030; examine sustainable development platforms, networking and strategic collaboration among education actors and stakeholders in Southeast Asia and beyond for enhancing the quality of learning and ensuring wider access and relevance of education in the region; and build a consensus reflecting and concretising transformative educational programmes and action plans towards the development of a dynamic synergy of strengths, strategies and standards leading to the application of more inclusive and innovative learning paradigms and education policies to meet global standards.
Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, UPOU Chancellor, is one of the invited speakers And she will be speaking on the topic “Transforming Higher Education in the Digital Era.”
