UPOU Conducts Research Colloquium for Laguna University (1)

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) faculty and REPS were invited by the Laguna University (LU) in their 2nd Institutional Non-Teaching Research Colloquium with the theme: “Refining Institutional Practices through Interactive Inquiry in a Collaborative Context.” This event, which aimed to cultivate the research culture in the institution by improving institutional operation, was held online on 20 June 2023.

Ms. Alvie Simonette Q. Alip, University Researcher, acted as a keynote speaker and reactor for the event. She delivered a brief but concise presentation entitled “Is Doing Research for Everyone?” prior to the actual research presentations of the LU participants. She discussed the importance, purpose, and benefits of conducting research studies and emphasized that research is a way of life that allows people to make informed decisions about the things that matter.

The presentation ended with a quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” True change starts from within and expands outward, influencing the world one person and one action at a time.

Along with Ms. Alip, Asst. Prof. Luisa A. Gelisan, UPOU University Registrar and Ms. Beverly R. Pablo from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) served as panel reactors for the research presentations done by staff members and researchers from LU.

Through this initiative, UPOU was able to share knowledge in the field of research. It is part of UPOU’s mandate under RA10650 “Open Distance Learning Law” to develop instructional methodologies and share them with other colleges and universities through cooperative initiatives to improve the quality of educational system in the country.
