UPOU Recognized by UPAA

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) was recognized by the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) with the 2020 Most Distinguished Alumni Award as  UP Health Frontliners during the Conferral of the Award and Dinner for the 2021 UPAA Awardees held on 19 May 2022. 

Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Open University, accepted the plaque and statuette for the university. 

This award was given to UP health frontliners around the world who exhibited patriotic dedication and professional competence during the COVID-19 crisis. UPOU was recognized for the #OPENfight (Open Fight Against COVID-19) initiative, the banner program for all of UPOU’s efforts towards coping and managing resources amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The #OPENfight Initiative has also been awarded the UP Gawad Pangulo Award for Excellence in Public Service. UPOU strongly adheres to UP’s standards of honor and excellence. It continues to pursue its mission to provide wider access to quality higher education through instruction, research and public service.
