The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) collaborative project with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) entitled “PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program” bagged an Anvil Silver Citation for Outstanding Education Program at the 54th Anvil Awards: Gabi ng Parangal held on 30 January 2019 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport City.
With the aim of promoting digital literacy in the country, the UPOU partnered with PLDT to primarily train public high school teachers and students, out-of-school-youths and senior citizens nationwide through this program. Other partners include the Department of Education (Division Level), Department of Information and Communications Technology, different Local Government Units, and the Technology Education and Skills Development Authority.
On its 5th round of implementation, the PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program has benefitted a total of 24,844 graduates covering 704 schools under 65 school divisions and partnered with 160 municipalities all over the country. (Emely M. Amoloza, FICS)
