In an effort to assist in barangay transformation and digitalization of employment servicing, the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) conducted an exploratory meeting with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Laguna and Concentrix Philippines on 11 July 2023 at the UPOU Sandbox, Los Baños, Laguna. The meeting resulted in the possible creation of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the parties and stakeholders involved which will develop micro-credential courses that can be tied up to the  Provincial of Laguna Employment Information System (PLEIS) managed by  PESO Laguna.  This will also attempt to capacitate Department of Education (DepEd) teachers as trainors of life skills within barangays as well as enable barangay leaders to expand their local employment servicing.

Additionally, it will target increasing job opportunities at the local level through innovative training programs, better local government service response and faster delivery of information services. By ensuring that local leaders and community members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge, the primary aim of UPOU FMDS, PESO Laguna and Concentrix Philippines is to help and assist barangays transform the way they think and operate in a holistic manner. Other topics tackled include growth mindset at the community level, use of digital technology and capacity building for Barangay Employment Service Officers (BESO).

Ms. Mary Jane Corcuera, PESO Laguna Manager, together with Engr. Rodson Del Mundo and Ms. Patricia Lafavilla, were the representatives from PESO Laguna. Mr. Alnard Pagulayan of Concentrix Philippines also participated in the discussion alongside Dr. Joane Serrano, FMDS Dean, and Ms. Janelle Ebron, FMDS research assistant.
