The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has invited the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) to be a partner institution in two international conferences in Malaysia in the second half of 2016.UPOU is a partner institution in the International Conference on Communication and Media (i-COME'16), an International Communication Association (ICA) Regional Conference aimed at advancing knowledge in the field of communication that can benefit various communities experiencing changes. i-COME'16 will be held from 18 to 20 September 2016 at Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It carries the theme "Exploring Communication: Beyond Nation, Cultural Adaptation, Image and Identity" and will be covering topics on communication theory and research, interpersonal and organizational communication, journalism and media studies, language and social interaction, intercultural communication and ethnicity and race, communication and technology, meaning, context and cognition (mcc) in communication, political communication, public relations, advertising, propaganda, promotion, visual/graphic communication, communication ethics, media literacy. UPOU is a partner institution in the i-COME'16 along with Chulalongkorn University, Sungkyun Kwan University and Purdue Liberal Arts Purdue Peace Project. UPOU is also a partner in the ASEAN University Conference on Public Relations and Communication (APRC-2016) that will be held from 18 to 20 November 2016 at the EDC Hotel & Residence in UUM, Sintok, Kedah, Darul Aman Malaysia. APRC-2016's main objective is to provide a platform for students and representatives of higher learning institutions in Malaysia and the Asian region to discuss and share thoughts on issues related to public relations and communication. This is open to undergraduate students, post-graduate students, and PR practitioners from government agencies and non-profit organizations. The conference theme is "One Vision, One Identity, One Community: Fostering Public Relations Network for ASEAN Communities." The sub-themes include public relations, organizational communication, communication for social change, intercultural communication, political communication, corporate communication, business communication, new media and any issues related to public relations and communication.
