UPOU researcher Luisa Gelisan and her team receive special award for their paper on web streaming lectures.The paper titled "Best Practices for Web Streaming Lectures: The UPOU Multimedia Experience" was given an Award of Merit for the Best Practices of the Flexible Learning at the 2nd International Conference on Open and Flexible Education (ICOFE). The paper was presented in the conference by its senior author, Ms. Luisa A. Gelisan, University Researcher. She co-authored the paper with colleagues from Multimedia Center, Mr. Allan S. Nunez and Ms. Maria Amabelle G. Banasihan and from the ICT Development Office, Mr. Joseph Daniel E. Platon.
The paper shared the best practices documented by their team that provided technical support for web streaming activities in the university. Web streaming make possible for e-learners, especially those who cannot attend face-to-face learning activities, to view and review streamed sessions anytime, wherever they are.
Aside from Gelisan and Banasihan, there were 14 other faculty, research, extension and professional staff (REPS), and administrative staff members from UPOU who shared their research findings in the said conference that was held on 16-17 July 2015 at the Open University of Hong Kong, SAR China.
The theme of the 2nd ICOFE is Making Learning Mobile and Ubiquitous. It highlighted the approaches and means to adopt latest technologies and innovations to cater to the diverse needs of various learning communities. (Anna Cañas-Llamas)
