All alumni of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Master of Public Management (MPM) are invited to the celebration of MPM’s 25th year! This 24 February 2023, the MPM program will celebrate this milestone with the theme “Online, Open, and Onwards: Meeting Challenges Ahead.”
The UPOU MPM program was instituted in 1996, a year after UPOU was established. This is through the initiative of the UP College of Public Administration (UPCPA, now the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance, or NCPAG). It was then offered by the UPOU Faculty of Management and Development Studies during the second semester of AY 1997-1998. Since the first batch of MPM graduates in 2001, UPOU has produced more than 400 MPM graduates.
The Master of Public Management (MPM) Program caters to policymakers, administrators, and managers of public, private, and non-governmental organizations; practitioners in local government and administration; and other individuals interested in good governance, and public policy and administration. The fundamental goal of the MPM Program is to professionally upgrade the management skills and education of administrators and practitioners, in the pleasure of their own time and place.
The Program offers three specializations: Local Government and Regional Administration (LGRA), Public Policy and Program Administration (PPPA), and Voluntary Sector Management (VSM). Other areas of specialization are being developed such as Organization Studies and Public Fiscal Administration.
The MPM@25 program will run from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning (CCDL) Auditorium, UP Open University Headquarters, Maahas, Los Baños, Laguna. The program will highlight a hybrid forum on Voluntary Sector Management education, a roundtable discussion on MPM’s history, a presentation of service awards, and the launching of a micro-credential course on Sustainable Development Goals for public servants.
