UPOU Hosts Benchmarking Activity for the Far Eastern University Institute of Technology

The UP Open University (UPOU) hosted officials from the Far Eastern University (FEU) Institute of Technology for a benchmarking activity at the UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna on 13 February 2025. 

The event was facilitated by Dr. Aurora Lacaste, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Officer-in-Charge for the Office of Public Affairs,  Dr. Ricardo Bagarinao, Director of the Center for Open and Digital Teaching and Learning (CODTL), Dr. Mari Angeli Crisanto, Director of the Quality Assurance Office, and Mr. Lexter Mangubat, Deputy Director of CODTL Educational Media Production (EMP).

The representatives from FEU Institute of Technology who attended the benchmarking activity are Rossana Adao, Executive Director, Dr. Ace Lagman, Senior Director for Computer Studies and Multimedia Arts, Dr. Manuel Garcia, Director of Educational Innovation and Technology Hub, Daryl David, Director of FEU Tech Innovation Center, Norman Nicole Jimenez, Faculty, Ana Liza Velasquez, Director of Information Technology Services Office, Geliza Alcober, Canvas Admin and ISDT Coordinator, and Samantha Sadorra, Director of Industry-Academe Linkage, Alumni, and Placement Office. 

The discussion focused on Course Design and Delivery, Student Support Services, Faculty Training, LMS (Learning Platform), Assessment, Student Engagement, Admin Efficiency, Quality Assurance, Accessibility, Innovation and Tech, Community Engagement, Research, Global Reach and Partnerships. 

Aligned with RA 10650, the “Open Distance Learning Law,” and its commitment to Sustainable Development Goals No. 4 (Quality Education) and No. 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), UPOU plays a crucial role in strengthening collaboration among institutions and organizations to provide accessible, high-quality education and promote collective advancement in the educational sector.

FMDS Faculty Member awarded 1st Place at the Scientific Poster Competition of 2025 NRCP Annual Scientific ConferenceDr. Consuelo dL. Habito, a faculty member of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), won 1st place in the Scientific Poster Competition at the 2025 Department of Science and Technology (DOST) National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Annual Scientific Conference and 92nd General Membership Assembly. The event was held on 12 March 2025 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.Dr. Habito’s award-winning paper, titled “Indigenous Cultures and their Influences on Woodcarving in Contemporary Philippines,” was co-authored by Kyla Agnes Ramirez, Ms. Noisa Abdulazis-Asalan, Regina Guimpatan-Gano, and FMDS Affiliate Faculty Dr. Joefe Santarita.
