The UP Open University (UPOU) hosted a fruitful benchmark meeting with the University of San Agustin (USA) Iloilo on 8 February 2024 at the UPOU Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna. USA-Iloilo, recognizing UPOU’s leadership in Massive Open Distance Learning (MODeL), sought insights into its administration and key Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Dr. Reinald Adrian dL. Pugoy, UPOU’s Director of Information and Communication Technology Development Office, served as the primary resource person. He shared details about UPOU’s innovative LMS platforms and strategies for ensuring the delivery of high-quality online education.

Representatives from UPOU included Dr. Myra C. Almodiel, Director of the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), and Asst. Prof. Mari Anjeli Lubrica-Crisanto, Director of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO). On the USA-Iloilo side, Engr. Joel Garcera, Director for the Center for Information and Communication Support Services (CICSS) and EdTech, along with Engr. Glenda Guanzon, Supervisor for EdTech-CICSS, participated in the discussion.

UPOU’s commitment to open and accessible education extends beyond its own programs. As mandated by RA 10650 also known as the “Open Distance Learning Law,” and guided by Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 17, UPOU actively collaborates with other institutions to share expertise and expand access to quality education for all.
