The UP Open University (UPOU), in partnership with Cavite State University conducted virtual graduation for the participants of the training program on “Developing Courses for Online & Blended Learning” on 6 October 2022. The two-week training was held from 22 August to 2 September 2022 via UPOU Massive Open Distance e-Learning (MODeL). A total of forty (40) faculty members and staff from Cavite State University participated in the training program.
The two-week training program was delivered via the UPOU Massive Open Distance eLearning (MODeL). The program aimed to prepare educators in crafting comprehensive modules and learning materials, and deliver the courses effectively to their students. This rigorous and intensive training sought to impart the best learning practices and methodologies observed by UPOU as part of its public service.
The ceremony officially commenced with an opening message from the Campus Administrator of the CvSU-CCAT Campus, Dr. Lauro Pascua. On behalf of UPOU, Dr. Joane Serrano delivered a message of congratulations to all the graduates of the training program. The graduates, represented by Ms. Mari Daisy Corral, Mr. Reymart Padron, and Ms. Glory Ann Utana, also shared their impressions and experiences on how the program was able to hone their skills and competencies to become better educators. The testimonials shared by the participants emphasized the importance of a central institution such as UPOU that offers guidance and assistance to other institutions in transitioning to a more resilient and better-adapted education system that is student-centric, sustainable, and inclusive amid the rising challenges. The graduation was concluded by Dr. Ariel Santos, who delivered the closing remarks.
The training was spearheaded by Dean of the UPOU Faculty of Management & Development Studies, Dr. Joane V. Serrano, and FMDS Asst. Prof. Ria Valerie Cabanes who served as Course Coordinators. The training was organized by the UPOU Office of Public Affairs, with its Director, Dr. Myra C. Almodiel, serving as the Program Coordinator, as part of the university’s mandate to assist higher education institutions in developing their distance education programs through training, technical assistance, research, and other academic programs.
