The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) was hailed as the Most Colorful Delegation at the 2022 Bañamos Civic Parade for the third time. The first and second times were in the years 2017 and 2018. The Office of Public Affairs (OPA), headed by Dr. Myra C. Almodiel, Director, led the UPOU delegation consisting of faculty, REPS, administrative and COS staff members.

The parade, held on 17 September 2022, was one of the major activities of the five-day long celebration (14-18 September 2022) of the 407th Founding Anniversary of Los Baños and the 21st Bañamos Hotspring Bath Festival. The theme of the celebration was Nagkakaisang Mamamayan Tungo sa Mas Progresibong Bagong Los Baños.”

As the day was declared a Special Holiday, UPOU delegates have the privilege of claiming compensatory time-off in exchange for their participation. They were also provided parade shirts and umbrellas, as well as food over the duration of the parade.

The Bañamos Civic Parade was participated in by UPOU’s fellow members from the Los Baños Science Community Foundation, Inc., various government offices in Los Baños, civic and private organizations; and schools, colleges, and universities. Each of the 14 barangays of Los Baños had delegations at the parade. The foot parade started at 1:00 p.m. at Trace College in El Danda, Brgy. Batong Malake, and ended at Freedom Park, UPLB Campus, where the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta was also held the same day.
