New partnerships were forged and sealed by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) on 01 March 2019 as part of the celebration of its 24th Anniversary. This was held at its headquarters in Los Banos, Laguna. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Red Cross for Youth of the UP Los Banos (UPLB) were UPOU’s new partners.

With the DENR, the partnership shall facilitate capacity development and explore opportunities for cooperation on learning on environment and natural resources (ENR). In addition, areas of cooperation will include the conduct of organizational review and assessment and the recommendation of appropriate organizational set-up that is attuned to the unique condition of the National Capital Region.

The partnership with the Red Cross for Youth (RCY) of UPLB is for continued assistance for UPOU in its annual bloodletting activity which provides blood for those in need. RCY has been assisting UPOU in the past two years, the latest of which was through the Bloodiest Rumble, a bloodletting activity that resulted in the collection of 222 bags of blood.

Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, Chancellor of UPOU, signed all the new agreements, assisted by Dr. Alexander G. Flor, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS), Dr. Primo G. Garcia, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), and Dr. Jean A. Saludadez, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. Chancellor Bandalaria also presented the tokens of appreciation to all the existing partners.
