UPOU-FMDS launches the Plotitos-Plotitas of the Year Award as part of the FMDS Adopt-A-Plot Program

The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), in celebration of the annual Zero Waste Month in January 2024, launched the FMDS Adopt-A-Plot Program. Zero waste is one of the major principles of permaculture and these efforts to promote zero waste in the University would be of great value to the communities. The said program aims to bolster healthy eating habits, mental health resilience, and sustainability practices within and beyond the UP Open University. This is also in light of the operationalization of the Sustainability in Action – a Living Laboratory Campus (SiALLC) of the UPOU.

As part of this initiative and the continuous innovation of FMDS Permaculture G.A.R.D.E.N. (Growing Appreciation towards Resilience, Development, Entrepreneurship and Nutrition), FMDS is officially launching the Plotitos/Plotitas of the Year Award, to be given in December 2024.

This competition seeks to promote engagement among UPOU employees, students, alumni, and partners in fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for environmental stewardship, and promote biodiversity by allowing them to adopt individual or group plots. Join us in building a sustainable and resilient UPOU by adopting a plot in the FMDS Perma G.A.R.D.E.N. (Growing Appreciation Toward Resilience, Development, Entrepreneurship, and Nutrition) and stand a chance to win exciting prizes! 🏆🌱🏅

Aspiring participants may kindly read the guidelines of the program and submit your signed sustainability commitment form on this link.

Please be reminded that judges will only visit the adopted plots for monitoring and evaluation on the first Fridays of June, September, and December 2024.

Plotitos/Plotitas of the Year Award is more than just a challenge; it is a call to action.

Let us cultivate a sustainable future, one plot at a time!
