Three faculty members from the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) and one staff from the Center for Open and Digital Teaching & Learning (CODTL) participated in the the 4th International Workshop on Learner Centered Learning (LCL) held on 12-13 August 2024 at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand in support of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4: Quality Education. The workshop was organized by Chemnitz University of Technology in partnership with the University of the Philippines Open University, Chulalongkorn University, Asia-Europe Meeting, and Mongolian University of Science and Technology.
This International Biennial Workshop aimed to gather participants from educational institutions, government sectors, industries, and the broader society to discuss the latest research and advancements in education. The two-day workshop covered a range of topics, including innovations, methodologies, and approaches in educational technologies and learner-centered learning.
Assistant Professor Juvy Lizette Gervacio, one of the chairs of the LCL workshop committee and visiting professor to Chulalongkorn University, presented the paper “Face- to-Face and Online Learning: Some Reflections on Learner Centered Learning”. Professor Consuelo dL. Habito discussed her paper on “Integrating AI and the Metaverse: Advancing Student Learning Outcomes”. Ms. Carmelita Orias talked about her paper on “Digitalization of Learning Materials: A Study of UPOU Faculty Adoption of H5P”. Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Tricia Ascan shared the Open eX framework for the Associate of Arts in Digital Entrepreneurship (AADE) Program during the Open Talk. The three faculty members also served as moderators during the paper presentation sessions.
