Dr. Sally Gutierez with the Faculty of Bulacan State University during the webinar workshop.

Dr. Sally B. Gutierez, an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Education, shared her expertise as Resource Person and as a member of the Panel of Experts at Bulacan State University and Cavite State University, respectively.

The webinar workshop she conducted at Bulacan State University was titled “Multidisciplinary Approaches in Teaching and Learning.” More than 700 faculty members of various campuses participated in the workshop which was held on 18 August 2022. The workshop aimed to enable participants to (1) acquire a clear-cut concept regarding multidisciplinary education or multidisciplinary approach in teaching; and (2) identify appropriate plans, actions, and strategies in moving from a disciplinary-oriented form of teaching to being multidisciplinary educators. In response to the immense impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic on the current trends of the education sector, Dr. Gutierez shared some of the instructional strategies that can be implemented that will enable students’ disciplinary engagement in their own fields. During the workshop, the participants were asked to collaboratively work in break-out rooms to brainstorm how the strategies presented to them will be applied in their respective classes.

On 8 September 2022, Dr. Gutierez joined the Social Science Group as a member of the Panel of Experts at Cavite State University. As a panel member, she scrutinized the completed research and development projects and suggested ways how the research proponents would improve the research projects to prepare them for disseminating their research results. Aside from the research proponents, other faculty and students of CvSU joined this online event.
