The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Education (FEd) has appointed a new Faculty Secretary and set of Program Chairs for several of its programs effective Academic Year 2022-2023. Assistant Professor Rita C. Ramos will serve as FEd Faculty Secretary until 31 July 2023. Asst. Prof. Ramos is a regular faculty of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) and a registered nurse. She is currently completing her PhD program in Educational Psychology at the De La Salle University Manila. Prior to this appointment, Asst. Prof. Ramos served as the University Registrar of UPOU and FMDS Faculty Secretary.
Assistant Professor Roja L. Rivera has been appointed as the Chair of the Associate in Arts (AA) program. Prior to this appointment, Asst. Prof. Rivera served as the Chair of the Bachelor of Education Studies (BES) program from 2015 until 2019. Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Marie-Sol P. Hidalgo will serve as the Chair of the newly-approved Associate of Science in Instructional Design and Technology (ASIDT) program.
Dr. Celeste Laurel Tayzon will serve as the Chair of the BES program, in which she previously served as the Program Development Associate from 1 August 2022 to 31 March 2023. Assistant Professor Dennis Lee Jarvis B. Ybañez has been appointed as the Chair of the Diploma in Mathematics Teaching (DMT) program. Asst. Prof. Ybañez is succeeded by Asst. Prof. Rivera as the AA Program Chair. Lastly, Assistant Professor Ana Katrina T. Marcial will serve as the Chair of the Graduate Certificate and Master of Distance Education (GC/MDE) programs. She previously served as the Chair of the AA program from 2014 until 2015 and the MALLE program from 2015 until 2021. She also served as the Director of the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS) from November 2018 until September 2022. All Program Chair appointments will last until 31 July 2023.
