Dedication and determination. These are the two keys that unlock academic success in the midst of balancing education and all of life’s obligations. The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) wishes to extend its earnest congratulations and scholarly recognition to its 571 graduates, of which 20 received Latin honors and 82 graduates with distinctions in the 27th Commencement Exercises last 16 December 2023. These individuals have showcased their excellence not only by accomplishing their degrees but also by graduating with honors on top of managing work and family commitments.

This year, UPOU has brought out two of its first Summa cum laude in history. It is with great honor that the university recognizes the two (2) outstanding graduates, Mickey Angel T. Cortez and Krizzia Anne S. Estrella, both from the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies (BAMS).

UPOU has also produced nine (9) Magna cum laude graduates, eight (8) from BAMS and one (1) graduate from Bachelor of Education Studies (BES).

Another set of nine (9) exemplary graduates have received a cum laude merit are celebrated by UPOU. UPOU also commends 35 graduates who received the Chancellor’s List awards and 47 Dean’s List graduates.

Indeed, these graduates’ achievements deserve recognition. UPOU celebrates their academic success and encourages a lifelong dedication to learning. As they step out of the university, we hope they uphold its mission to serve the people through their knowledge and grit. Through whatever path they take, we hope they sustain honor and excellence, encouraging others to do the same and be pioneers of transformation and change in the world.
