The UP Open University (UPOU) conducted a benchmark meeting with the Asian Theological Seminary (ATS) at the UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna on 26 October 2023.

The ATS delegation, led by Director Raniel M. Gallardo of the ATS Division of Online Learning, was warmly received by UPOU officials, including Dr. Myra C. Almodiel, Director of the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), Dr. Reinald Adrian Pugoy, Director of the Information and Communication Technology Development Office (ICTDO) and Assistant Professor Mari Anjeli Crisanto, Director of the Quality Assurance Office (QAO).

Dr. Pugoy provided an in-depth presentation on the UPOU ICTDO. He discussed its role within UPOU, shared the organizational structure, and outlined the various tasks it manages. This included the administration of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the overall management of IT infrastructure.

The benchmark meeting covered a range of topics, including UPOU’s formal and non-formal programs, IT infrastructure management, the basics of micro-credentialing, instructional design, the management of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and the development of educational multimedia resources.

As per its mandate under RA 10650, also known as the “Open Distance Learning Law,” and its commitment to furthering Sustainable Development Goals No. 4 and 17, UPOU continues to play a crucial role in building bridges between various organizations and institutions. These efforts aim to provide accessible and high-quality education to a diverse range of learners, fostering cooperation and shared progress in the educational landscape.
