The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Chancellor, Dr. Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria, served as lecturer for Bulacan State University’s (BulSU) webinar with the theme, “EDUK-KAKAIBA: Guro, Alamin Mo Na” held on 25 June 2020.

The crisis that the COVID-19 pandemic brought has led to many educational institutions deciding to adapt a more flexible mode of learning, which will enable them to cater to the needs of their students. In adhering firmly to Bulacan State University’s vision of becoming a progressive knowledge-generating institution, one measure it crafted to cope with the crisis was to conduct training programs to equip its faculty members in meeting the challenges of the new learning environment.

Dr. Bandalaria’s talk included a discussion of the different learning platforms for teaching and learning, including the various modes of delivery and content management that can be employed in doing remote teaching.

Dr. Bandalaria, as a recognized expert in Online Learning and Distance Education, and Chancellor of the nation’s leader in open and distance eLearning, has engaged with numerous State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to fulfill UPOU’s mandate. RA 10650 mandates UPOU to assist HEIs and technical and vocational institutions in developing their distance education programs through training, technical assistance, research and other academic programs. These efforts are part of UPOU’s public service to the country, and part of the #OPENFight program, UPOU’s banner program for all efforts towards coping and managing resources amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
