UPOU, as CODEPP President, Provides Quality Assurance Training in ODeL to CLSU DOT-Uni

After a recent workshop by the Consortium for Open and Distance Education in the Philippines (CODEPP) in La Union on September 19-20, 2023, CLSU Distance, Open, and Transnational University is now focusing on improving the quality of its distance education.

During the workshop, CLSU DOT-Uni showed a keen interest in Quality Assurance (QA) for Distance Education. As a result, they are currently attending a training on “Quality Assurance in Open Distance eLearning” provided by the UP Open University (UPOU) at its Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna, from 5-6 October 2023. Dr. Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria, CODEPP President and UPOU Chancellor, is leading the discussions on QA in ODeL, Development of QA Framework for Internal QA, and Implementation Plans for the QA. This training is part of a bigger program titled “Enabling the Philippine Higher Education Institutions to Offer Open Distance eLearning Programs.”

This effort aligns with Republic Act No. 10650 (RA10650), also known as the “Open Distance Learning Act,” which aims to make education more accessible through technology. UPOU, under Section 12 of this Act, is helping institutions like CLSU DOT-Uni in developing their distance education programs through training and support. CLSU DOT-Uni’s commitment to improving distance education will help advance learning opportunities in the Philippines.
