UPOU and partners officially launch Teacher Development Program Phase 5 (TDP5) in Mauban, Quezon.Teacher Development Program Phase 5 (TDP5), a project to continuously upgrade the knowledge and skills of mathematics, science, language and computer science teachers was launched in Mauban, Quezon. This program provides scholarship grants to selected public elementary and high school teachers from Mauban, Quezon.
A TDP5 scholar shall enroll in one of the following graduate programs of the University of the Philippines Open University: Diploma in Science Teaching; Diploma in Mathematics Teaching; Diploma in Language and Literacy Education; at Diploma in Computer Science. The scholar shall also undergo training programs, such as ICT Integration for Teaching.
The Teacher Development Program, which was initially implemented in 2005, was conceptualized, established, and supported by the Quezon Power (Philippines) Ltd. (QPL); the local government unit of Mauban, Quezon under the leadership of Mayor Fernando "Dingdong" Llamas; the UP Open University; the UPOU Foundation, Inc.; and the Department of Education-Quezon Province. In 2008, Congressman Mark Enverga, also provided funds for the program, thereby extending the program's benefits to teachers in District 1 of Quezon Province.
Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria, Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies and the program leader of TDP, said that as of 2014, the program have given scholarship grants to 149 teachers. More than 100 of them have already finished their graduate degree programs.
The TDP5 was launched during the Teachers Congress that was held in Mauban Gymnasium on 20 May 2015. Present at the program launch were the people instrumental in establishing and sustaining TDP. They were Mayor Llamas of Mauban; Mr. Chuckie Rivera of Quezon Power (Philippines) Ltd.; Dr. Seledonio Balderas – representative of Dr. Tolentino G. Aquino, DepEd-Quezon Schools Division Superintendent; and Dr. Bandalaria. More than 400 individuals –district superintendents, principals, school officials, and teachers — from various public elementary and high schools participated in the congress.

- Ms. Melanie V. Mirandilla, Diploma in Mathematic Teaching
- Ms. Clarissa C. Serrano, Diploma in Science Teaching
