As a public service initiative, the UPOU Cultural Committee chaired by Dr. Primo G. Garcia, with support from the UPOU Foundation, Inc. , conducted the Sining Saya sa Tag-init Art Workshop. The art workshop was organized to encourage the youth to develop their interest in the arts and was held from 18 to 28 April 2016 at the UPOU Community Hub in Los Baños, Laguna.Mr. Dante Palmes, a visual artist, sculptor, art instructor and a Master of Fine Arts student in UP Diliman, taught the children the basics of drawing and painting using pencil, watercolor, oil pastel and acrylic paint. The output of the children are displayed in an exhibit at the Galeria Sinag at the UPOU Community Hub from 06 to 16 May 2016.

Maranan served as one of the lecturers in Quake Quest, a scientific research competition for senior high school students hosted by the UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) and the UP Intelligent Systems Center, completed its four-day Major Quest 0: Crash Course Series on Sept. 28 at the Computational Science and Research Center (CSRC), UP Diliman.
