On 8 March 2023, one of the research projects of the UP System’s EIDR Program titled, Development of a Filipinized Learning Management System, visited its collaborator, Mindanao State University – Buug (MSU – Buug), for the pilot implementation of the study in the College of Nursing Faculty and Students.

Assistant Professor Rita C. Ramos, the Project Leader and Faculty Member of the UP Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), headed the research team to a courtesy call with MSU-Buug’s Chancellor, Dr. Sultan Pangandag M. Magolama, and other MSU Officials. Chancellor Magolama shared that this is the first time for MSU-Buug to partner with the University of the Philippines, to which they are beyond grateful and excited. After the courtesy call, the research team held an open forum with the MSU College of Nursing Faculty and Students, where questions and concerns related to the Filipinized Learning Management System were addressed.

The Filipinized Learning Management System aims to help both nursing students and faculty to have an accessible online learning environment despite the slow internet connection in the country. Currently, the project is being implemented in 3 state universities in the country – MSU Buug, Cavite State University, and Visayas State University, respectively. The project hopes to expand its partnerships with other academic fields and institutions in the future.
