ICODeL 2021 Poster

The 4th International Conference on Open and Distance e-Learning (ICODeL 2021) announces the availability of conference fellowship grants to cover the registration fee of Filipino participants.  The ICODeL 2021 Conference Fellowship is open to academic and administrative staff members from higher educational institutions (HEIs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs), training personnel from government and non-government institutions, and academic and administrative staff members from the Basic Education sector.  Paper presenters, authors, and speakers will be given priority for the grant.  Applicants are required to submit a Conference Fellowship Application Form before the conference and the Ee-entry Action Plan (REAP) one week after the event.

ICODeL 2021 will be held virtually on 13-15 October 2021 with the theme “The University of the Future: Sustainability and Agility Amidst Disruption.”  The conference aims to provide a platform for scholars, practitioners, policy makers, and other stakeholders of distance education and e-learning to convene and share expertise and discover and create possibilities for open, distance, and e-learning for development. 

The plenary speakers of the event include Professor Don Passey, established researcher and expert in technology enhanced learning from Lancaster University; Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University; and Ms. Torunn Gjelsvik, Secretary-General of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).

The biennial international conference offers an opportunity for participants to showcase their research works and studies.   The conference is organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), Philippine Society for Distance Learning (PSDL), and UPOU Foundation, Inc. (UPOUFI).

The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) faculty and staff presented their research at the 3rd World Immersive Learning Labs Symposium (WILLS) 2025 held at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) from 13 to 15 April 2025 in Kyoto, Japan. This year’s conference was co-organized by the UPOU, The Future Hub’s of KUFS, and The Mixed, Augmented, and Virtual Realities (MAVR) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Japan Association for Language Teaching.During session 3, short talks, of Day 2, eight (😎 FMDS research papers were presented.A quick tour of the Future Hub’s immersive learning lab was also conducted, led by Dr. Eric Hawkinson, organizer of the event, President and MAVR research coordinator. This laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technology, providing a unique environment where students, educators, and researchers can experiment, innovate, and push the boundaries of traditional education. It includes the U Theatre that has been meticulously designed to facilitate these experiences.
