Dr. Jean A. Saludadez has been reappointed as the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU). She will serve at the pleasure of Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria starting 1 March 2022. She was first appointed to the position in 2013 during the third term of UPOU former Chancellor, Dr. Grace Javier Alfonso.
Dr. Saludadez is a Professor of the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) and the Program Chair of the Graduate Certificate in ASEAN Studies and Master of ASEAN Studies programs. She is also an affiliate professor of the UPOU Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) and the Faculty of Education (FEd).
Prof. Saludadez’ interest focuses on the agency framework in organizational communication research. She has conducted numerous research initiatives on digital media, distance education, vegetable agroforestry system, natural resource management, climate change, and research management, among others. She has produced several local and international publications, most notably on sustainable farming, collaborative research networks, construction of qualitative research, and organizational transubstantiation.
Dr. Saludadez has been a recipient of several awards and recognition for her exemplary work and service to the University and the academe. Recently, she has been recognized as an Outstanding Faculty in the 2022 UPOU Gawad Chancellor Awards. She received the same recognition in the 2015 Gawad Chancellor Awards. She was given the UPOUFI Professorial Chair in Open and Distance Learning in 2015 for her research “Understanding Virtual Organizations: A Study of Authority in an ODeL Organization.”
Dr. Saludadez earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Communication at the Universiti Putra Malaysia. She completed both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Development Communication degrees at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
