The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has opened ten slots for conference fellowships to the 30th Conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU2016) on 26-29 October 2016 in Manila, Philippines.The fellowships will be awarded to delegates of not more than 45 years old from AAOU Member institutions in Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Delegates should have had abstracts already accepted for presentation at AAOU2016. Young or mid-career women practitioners of distance education are preferred, especially those who have not attended conferences in the past.
Each fellow will be awarded CAD500 for the conference early bird registration fee and accommodation expense only. Applicants will be responsible for their travel costs. To apply, read the Guidelines for Applying for the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Sponsorship and submit application to aaou@ouhk.edu.hk on or before 15 August 2016.

Celebrating excellence and service at FICSThe Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS) successfully hosted its Recognition and Thanksgiving 2025 event on 5 December 2025 at the International Convention Center, UPOU Headquarters, Los Banos, Laguna.The day began with the National Anthem and a warm Welcome Message from UPOU Chancellor Prof. Joane V. Serrano. In her message, she reminded the graduates that they are here to make a difference, welcoming them to the UPOU campus.Following the initial remarks, FICS Alumni Faye Anjeli Lopez Sanchez delivered an Inspirational Message.The program then proceeded with the formal Awarding of Certificates of Completion and Excellence, including special recognition for our dedicated Pahinungod Graduate Volunteers. The graduating class was represented by Ram Idelbert A. Hilario (Master of Development Communication), who delivered a heartfelt Response. His key points highlighted that activism is a privilege and a responsibility. He reminded us that as scholars of the nation, we owe our service to those who made our education possible, honoring them by defending truth, safeguarding democracy, and helping build the nation.The ceremony concluded with Closing Remarks delivered by FICS Dean Assoc.
