BAMS Program Chair Sits as a Member of the NCCT Technical Working Group

The Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies (BAMS) Program Chair, Dr. Emely M. Amoloza, was invited to serve as a member of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT). In this role, Dr. Amoloza contributes her expertise as the academe sector representative. The TWG is responsible for drafting the NCCT’s Production Subsidy Guidelines. 

As an initial activity, a TWG meeting was held on 6 September 2024 at the Ardenhills Suites Board Room, Quezon City. The drafted guidelines are crucial in establishing a robust framework for the NCCT’s annual project rollout, engaging local creative businesses, content developers, artists, and students. These guidelines are designed to benefit key stakeholders, including university students, professional production teams, animators, and artists. The project aims to provide these groups with opportunities to excel and make meaningful contributions to the country’s cultural and educational landscape.

The NCCT, under the Department of Education (DepEd), is responsible for promoting the production and broadcasting of developmentally appropriate television programs for children. This aligns with its mission to enhance children’s educational content across various platforms.

Other members of the TWG who are present during the meeting are Ms. Leonor Reyes, Chief of the Creative Sector Development Division, Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines; Prof. Aaron Vicencio, Director of the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Multimedia Communication, Ateneo de Manila; Mr. Daniel Enriquez, Executive Director of the Animation Council of the Philippines, Incorporated (ACPI); Ms. Marlyn Montano, Vice President of ACPI; and Asst. Prof. Stanley G. Rovira of the Department of Multimedia Arts, University of Makati; 

The NCCT Personnel who hosted the meeting include Ms. Desideria Mance Atienza, Executive Director III; Ms. Judy Galleta, Head of Programs, Policy, and Research Division (PCDS); and the PCDS Project Development Officers: Ms. Flor Katrina Capadusa, Ms. Catherine Joy Mayuga, Mr. Nhil Xavier Piñera and Mr. Jupiter Dayalo.

The Faculty of Education (FEd) is calling for volunteer students to take part in its Peer Empowerment Program (PEP).
