In commemoration of the Acad Union Month this October 2022, the All UP Academic Employees Union – Los Banos and Open University (AUPAEU-LB and OU) Chapters  collaborated to hold the “Ang Guro at Ang Bayan Faculty Forum”. The hybrid event was conducted last 17 October 2022, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the UPOU Audio-Visual Room, and via Zoom and Facebook Live. 

Ang Guro at Ang Bayan Faculty Forum is represented by the University’s regular faculty members, Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) with teaching load, lecturers, teaching assistants, teaching fellows, and professor emeriti of UPLB and UPOU campuses. 

Asst. Prof. Carl Marc Ramota, former AUPAEU National President and currently the union’s Director-at-Large presented the “UP Situationer: Mga Hamon sa Ligtas na Opisina at Balik-Eskwela.” The discussion denoted the need for upgrading the university in terms of online infrastructure, having adequate spaces for work and learning, presence of comprehensive programs for employees’ and students’ well-being, and a compassionate, accountable, and responsive leadership.

Dr. Rommel Rodriguez, AUPAEU National Auditor, shared a discussion titled  “May mga Pader Tayong Hindi Nakikita.” Dr. Rodriguez highlighted that art is our shield and his purpose in writing is to destroy the walls and override our limitations. 

Dr. Ramon Guillermo, former Faculty Regent also shared a discussion about “Red Tagging at Represyon sa Loob ng Akademya”, a timely subject about the current challenges of the academic community regarding academic freedom, repression and red-tagging. 

Asst. Prof. Cris R. Lanzaderas, President of the AUPAEU-LB, delivered the opening remarks while Asst. Prof. Roja L. Rivera, Board of Director of the AUPAEU-OU Chapter concluded the event with her closing remarks.. The recorded live event can still be viewed via the AUPAEU-LB Facebook Page.
