UP Open University joins the nation in celebrating National Disaster Resilience Month this July 2023. This year’s theme is “BIDANG Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-being towards Disaster Resilience.”

In line with this celebration, the UPOU, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Committee’s #AlwaysReady campaign, will be launching the Reelsilience, a ‘reels contest’ aimed at raising awareness on disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and disaster rehabilitation and recovery.

This competition is open to UPOU students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, a social media influencer, or simply passionate about making a difference, this contest is the perfect platform to make your voice heard.

Here are the mechanics:

  1. Theme: The theme for the Facebook Reel competition is “BIDAng Pilipino: Building a Stronger Filipino Well-Being towards Disaster Resilience.” Your video reel should focus on promoting disaster resilience and preparedness among Filipinos.
  2. Video Requirements: Create a new, original video exclusively for this competition. It should not have been previously used, published, or distributed in any form. The reel should have a maximum duration of 90 seconds to keep it concise and engaging.
  3. Accessibility: Ensure that your Facebook Reel is accessible to the public. Set the privacy settings of your video to “Public” so that anyone can view it.
  4. Like and Follow: Like and follow the UP Open University Official Facebook page by visiting this link: https://www.facebook.com/UPOUOfficial. This step is mandatory to participate in the competition.
  5. Tagging: Tag the UP Open University Official Facebook page in your Facebook Reel post. This will help the organizers identify your entry. Make sure to use the handle @UPOUOfficial.
  6. Hashtags: Include the hashtags #UPOpenUniversity, #AlwaysReady, and #Reelsilience in the caption of your Facebook Reel. This will help categorize your entry and increase its visibility.
  7. Registration: Officially register your entry by filling out this Google Form. The form will collect essential details about your entry and ensure that it is considered for the competition.
