36th Sustainable Shared Growth Seminar

The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS) invites you to the 36th Sustainable Shared Growth Seminar titled, “In Search of Community Currency (A Study in Community Innovations)” on 28 February 2023, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at the UPOU Audio-Visual Room (AVR).

The webinar seeks to answer the following questions:
  • What is community currency?
  • How could a community currency scheme be designed?
  • How do we move forward through joint explorations and research collaborations?
Dr. Ferdinand Maquito, Assistant Professor from the College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), will present the basics and design of a community currency scheme. The webinar will also feature Dr. Kenichi Kurita of Chiba Keizai College; Dr. Yoshihisa Miyazaki of National Institute of Technology, Sendai College; and Dr. John Perez of CPAf, UPLB as panel discussants.
The webinar is jointly organized with the Sekiguchi Global Research Association (SGRA), Atsumi International Scholarship Foundation (AISF) and CPAf, UPLB in an effort to promote the sharing of sustainable development experiences and approaches, which can be useful resources for multidisciplinary collaboration among faculty, staff, and students.

Celebrating Community Spirit at the Civic ParadeThe UP Open University participated in the Civic Parade on 17 September 2025 as part of the celebration of the 24th Bañamos Festival.
