The Teacher Development Program (TDP) team, led by UP Open University Chancellor Melinda dela Peña Bandalaria (3rd from right), presented to the newly elected Mayor of Mauban, Quezon, Hon. Ninong Erwin Pastrana (5th from right), the capability program for teachers that had been implemented in the town since 2005.

The  TDP is a collaborative undertaking between the Local Government Unit of Mauban; Quezon Power (Philippines) Limited Co.; Department of Education-Quezon; UPOU Foundation Inc, and UPOU. It provides residents of Mauban scholarship grants for enrollment to graduate level degree programs and training programs offered by the UPOU. Under the program, a scholar is also given a technology package that includes  one computer unit and Internet allowances during the scholar’s two-year study.

Mayor Pastrana said that his administration shall support the continuance of the program as education is one of his priority programs.

The TDP Program is now on its 8th phase. Since 2005, TDP has benefitted a total of 190 scholars, almost all of whom are public elementary and high school teachers.
