The Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) organized a Research Forum entitled "Cushing's Syndrome from Pituitary Microadenoma and Pulmonary Nodules" and "Lived Experiences of Women Who Had Induced Abortion" on 27 April 2016 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Audio-Visual Room, UPOU Headquarters, UP Open University, Los Baños, Laguna. The Resource Speakers for the said research forum were Asst. Prof. Loyda Amor N. Cajucom and Senior Lecturer Geraldine Rowena S. Galang.Asst. Prof. Loyda Amor N. Cajucom is a registered nurse and an adjunct faculty member of the Master of Arts in Nursing Program of FMDS. She served as a faculty providing clinical and laboratory instructions to both undergraduate nursing students and Master of Arts in Nursing students of University of the Philippines Manila and UP Open University. She is also a Lead Auditor conducting third party audit of various institutions who would like to be ISO 9001 certified under Global Certification Inc., usually those related to health care, education and maritime. Meanwhile, Senior Lecturer Rowena S. Galang is a registered nurse and an adjunct faculty member of the Master of Arts in Nursing Program of FMDS. She was a graduate of the Master of Arts in Nursing Program of the FMDS.
Asst. Prof. Loyda Amor N. Cajucom discussed about the "Cushing's Syndrome from Pituitary Microadenoma and Pulmonary Nodules", a case study conducted by Asst. Prof. Loyda Amor N. Cajucom together with Mr. Dan Louie Renz P. Tating and Ms. Natasha Denise S. Montevirgen of UP Manila, College of Nursing. The case is about a 13 year old Filipino patient presented with a one week history of bilateral lower extremity weakness, hyperkalaemia and hypertension. This case study was featured at the UP OVPAA Website last March 2016. On the other note, Senior Lecturer Rowena S. Galang discussed about the "Lived Experiences of Women Who Had Induced Abortion", a study conducted to better understand the experiences, reasons and the effects personally experienced of women who committed induced abortion.
After the presentations of Asst. Prof. Loyda Amor Cajucom and Senior Lecturer Rowena S. Galang, an open forum succeeded. It was attended by UPOU faculty, staff and UPOU students. The forum was moderated by Assistant Professor Queenie R. Ridulme, Master of Arts in Nursing Program Chair.
