“LAGING HANDA: World Class Filipino COVID-19 Innovations”

Special Topic

While frontliners are responding to the immediate needs of COVID-19 patients, there is another group of frontliners who are inventing, innovating, and creating new technology to enable cost-effective, evidence-based, and more affordable care for Filipino patients.

In this episode of STOP COVID DEATHS, entitled, “ LAGING HANDA: World Class Filipino COVID-19 Innovations” – we take a closer look at how our brilliant and persevering Filipino scientists are looking forward to produce local ventilators, personal protective equipment, decontaminating systems, and even robotics that can protect frontliners from exposure to viruses.

UP PGH group called “Surgical Innovation and Biotechnology Laboratory (SIBOL)” led by Dr. Edward Wang will share their journey in the development of new technology called the SaniPoda no touch self-contained disinfection cubicle which provides an additional layer of protection for those directly involved in the fight against COVID.  Next, Dr. Samuel Arsenio Grozman will present a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), which protects its user from airborne contaminants.  Meanwhile, Dr. Nathaniel Orillaza, Jr. will present My Bot Ensuring Safety and Health in Isolated Environments (myBESHIE), a Telepresence device, connected wirelessly, with or without internet, that helps health care providers interact with isolated patients remotely.  Finally, Dr. Abundio Balgos will share GINHAWA, a compact, safe and effective ventilator that can be used for both children and adult COVID-19 patients who are confined in the intensive care unit.

End Users of these products Dr. April Llaneta, Dr. Kimberly Mae Ong, Dr. Mark Anthony Sandoval, and Dr. Camilo Roa, Jr. will share the benefits of these local inventions.

Join us and stay on-top of the latest developments among the brilliant Filipino scientists of our country on Friday, July 30th at 12nn. It’s a date!

Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Stay Connected!

Together we can STOP COVID DEATHS!
