UPOU IO is now UPOU OPA

The University of the Philippines (UP) Board of Regents (BOR) has approved the renaming of the  UP Open University (UPOU) Information Office (IO) to Office of Public Affairs (OPA). The approval was made on 21 May 2020 during the 1351st Meeting of the UP BOR.

The UPOU IO was created on 29 July 2010 primarily for information materials production, services and coordination. Over the years the function of the office has evolved to accommodate more functions connected to relations with the general public.

With the renaming of the office, its new set of functions now include (1) Information, Media and Public Relations, (2) Alumni Relations, (3) Public Service, and (4) Liaison to the UP Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs.

OPA is led by its Director, Dr. Joane V. Serrano, and manned by three staff, one functioning as Information Officer II, one functioning as a graphic artist, and the other one as a videographer. OPA remains to be under the Office of the Chancellor where the OPA Director directly reports to UPOU Chancellor Melinda dela Pena Bandalaria. OPA can be reached through [email protected] and 049 536 6001 local 710.
