UPOU offers free courses on Business Process Management and Business Communication anew.In time with the celebration of the ICT Month this June, the UP Open University announces the re-run of the free online courses for the Business Processes Outsourcing (BPO) industry. As a starter, two courses will be made available to everyone interested on 6 June 2015. These are the Fundamentals of Business Processes Outsourcing or Management 101 (BPO/BPM101) and Service Management Business Communication (BUSCOM). Each course will have two parts with each part running for six weeks. The courses are delivered as massive open online courses (MOOC), which means that they are open free of charge to anyone interested.
BPM101 and BUSCOM are part of the online Service Management Program (eSMP), which has been developed to increase the talent pool for the BPO industry. The BPO industry has made a significant contribution to the Philippine economy by generating jobs for many Filipinos and placing the country at the forefront of the service industry. One major component of eSMP is the Teachers' Track, wherein teachers will be equipped about the course content and how to teach the same courses.
Three more eSMP courses are scheduled for offering for free within the year: Service Culture; Fundamentals of Business Processes Outsourcing 102 (BPO/BPM102); and Critical Thinking. Offering free online courses is in line with UPOU's advocacy of making education inclusive for broader economic growth.
eSMP is a collaborative undertaking of the UPOU and the IT Business Process Association of the Philippines (ITBPAP) with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The courses can be accessed at model.upou.edu.ph. For more information, email [email protected].
