The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Faculty of Information and Communication Studies (FICS), in partnership with the UPOU Alumni Foundation, Incorporated (UPOUAFI), held the 2nd FICS Masterclass: A Lecture Series from Thought Leaders last 2 February 2018 at the Oblation Hall, UPOU Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna. The 2nd Masterclass featured a lecture by Dr. Felix Librero, Professor Emeritus, on Communication Contagion.
Dr. Librero explained that Communication Contagion tackled the knowledge, attitudinal, and behavioural influence of networks within or outside an organization. He also emphasized that communication act should be focused on as it is often disregarded in the communication process. Dr. Librero also introduced different topics for research in line with the Communication Contagion.

The Masterclass was attended by communication students, FICS alumni, prospective students, and researchers. They were highly encouraged to engage in the discussions, share knowledge and ask questions during the session.

The Masterclass is a series of lectures wherein a thought leader discusses a topic from his/her field of expertise in Communication. This is done to start a discussion on the practical uses of the topics in the participants’ contexts.

FICS and UPOUAFI plan to continue offering this masterclass quarterly as part of the former’s extension programs. (Yrelle Mae Lleva, FICS)
