The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) celebrates the brilliance of the 611 graduates, of which 46 received Latin honors and 109 graduated with distinctions in the 28th Commencement Exercises held last 7 December 2024. Coming from different backgrounds, locations, and stories, these graduates testify how UPOU fulfills its mandate of providing quality and accessible education for all.

This year UPOU produced two (2) summa cum laude, both of which came from the Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Studies (BAMS). Another set of 25 students graduated with magna cum laude awards, 23 of which came from BAMS and two (2) from the Bachelor of Education Studies (BES). UPOU also produced 19 graduates receiving cum laude awards, 12 of which came from the BAMS program and seven (7) from the BES program.

UPOU also commends the 55 graduates from graduate programs who received the Dean’s List award and the 54 graduates who received the Chancellor’s List award.

Being a student of UP in itself requires hard work and perseverance, and being a student of UPOU requires extra work as students have to balance their academic pursuits with the demands of their personal and professional lives. Juggling work, family, individual circumstances, and other commitments while engaging in rigorous online learning is a great challenge. Thus, the achievements of our honor students are even more remarkable, as they have demonstrated exceptional dedication and time management skills. Indeed, UPOU prides itself on these graduates inspiring the future generation of e-skolars.

As they step out of the university, may they bring with them its mission of honor, excellence, and service to the people. Padayon UPOU Class of 2024!
