Dr. Saludadez Represents UPOU at ACDEA (1)

Dr. Jean A. Saludadez, University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and Program Chair for the Doctor of Communication Program under the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies, represented the UPOU at the Meeting of the ASEAN-China  Digital  Education Alliance (ACDEA). This was held at the Conference Center, Guiyang, Guizhou, China on 21 August 2024.

The meeting was attended by eight ASEAN members and 21 Chinese members of 12  government bodies, educational institutions, and enterprises. Four agenda items were tackled namely, the Announcement of the Chair and the Secretary General of the ACDEA; the Appointment of the Coordinators of the Committees/Technical Working Groups from China and the ASEAN counterparts, ACDEA Logo and website official launch; and Activities of the Alliance. For the second agenda, Dr. Saludadez, as the permanent representative from the UPOU, was given the appointment letter and she served as the focal point of the ASEAN- side of the Research Committee. Other focal points were identified for the China-side and ASEAN-side committees in Policy, Research, Technology, Basic Education, Higher Education, and Technical Vocational Education and Training. 

The ASEAN-China Digital Education Alliance was formed on 28 August 2023 to develop a comprehensive, pragmatic, and inclusive education cooperation partnership in ASEAN countries and China; synergizing reform efforts and quality education resources; sharing up-to-date policies, outcomes, and best practices in the field of digital education;  utilizing emerging technologies to develop optimal digital education solutions; and facilitating the high-quality development of digital education in ASEAN countries and China. The founding members of the ACDEA consisted of 56 institutions with 18 ASEAN institutions (with the UP Open University as a member institution)  and 38 institutions from China with the Open University of China serving as Secretariat. 

When ACDEA was formed in 2023, Dr. Saludadez attended the conference in China, together with UP President Angelo A. Jimenez, and Dr. Alfredo Mahar Lagmay, Executive Director, UP Resilience Institute.
