The Los Baños Horticulture Society, Inc. (LBHSI) held an appreciation night to celebrate the remarkable success of the 50th Flower & Garden Show and an oath taking ceremony for their new set of officers on 14 October 2023 at the Multipurpose Hall, UPOU Headquarters, Los Baños, Laguna.

LBHSI President, Ms. Vernie Valdez-Lucero led the program and expressed her extreme gratitude towards the UPOU Community for helping LBHSI host the 50th Flower and Garden show with the theme “Ibalik ang Kahapon:  A Golden Celebration”.

One of the highlights of the evening was the awarding ceremony for the Upcycling Competition held during the Flower and Garden Show. The competition showcased the creative talents of LBHSI members, who turned ordinary household materials into innovative and environmentally friendly garden displays. The winners were recognized for their outstanding contributions to promoting sustainability and recycling in gardening practices.

An oath-taking ceremony of the new set of board of trustees and officers was also held led by FMDS Dean, Dr. Joane V. Serrano.

These dedicated members vowed to lead LBHSI in the coming years, ensuring the organization’s continued growth and a deeper love for horticulture within the community, as well as steering LBHSI toward greater heights.

To cap the evening off, Mr. Nicko Dumayas, the Second Vice-President of LBHSI, graced the event with his heartfelt rendition of the classic song “Handog” by Florante, a homage to the event’s theme “Ibalik and Kahapon.”

The appreciation night for the 50th Flower & Garden Show delivered a promise of continued growth, community engagement, and sustainability. In line with the UPOU’s initiatives and acceleration towards sustainability, the LBHSI has once again demonstrated its commitment to the art of horticulture and its dedication to promoting a greener and more vibrant community for all.
