Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos, Ph.D.

The International Conference on Open and Distance eLearning (ICODeL) 2023 will feature Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos, a Full Professor of Telematics Engineering at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) and the UNESCO Chair on “Scalable Digital Education for All.”

Dr. Kloos is also the Director of the Telematic Applications and Services Group (GAST) at UC3M. His main research interests are in Educational Technology and he has carried out research stays at several ivy league universities. He has over 500 article publications and coordinated several Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) with over 600,000 registrations. Dr. Kloos is presently promoting the adoption of digital micro-credentials in Spain through the project CertiDigital.

Dr. Kloos has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technische Universität München and Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He has also acted as a coordinator of the E-LANE project on e-learning, funded by the European Union. He has been a member of the Board of Learn Research Network (LRN) Consortium, an open educational platform code.

Dr. Kloos was one of the speakers during the 6th National Conference on Open and Distance eLearning held in 2019. This year, he will be the speaker for the ICODeL Pre-Conference Workshop about “Linking Online Courses to the Micro-credentials Ecosystem” and the first plenary session for the main conference where he will tackle “MOOCs to Micro-credentials.”

With the theme “Sustainability in Education: Intersection, Ideation, Innovations,” ICODeL 2023 will be held in a hybrid format on 22-23 August 2023. ICODeL 2023 is part of the Tri-conference co-organized by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), Philippine Society for Distance Learning (PSDL), UPOU Foundation, Inc, and Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
