The third day of NCODeL 2022 presented a lot of opportunities in honing Philippine higher education through its closing ceremony held last 25 November 2022. The activity paved the way for upcoming events aiming to stir open and distance learning into newer heights in the years to come.

University of the Philippines (UPOU) Chancellor Dr. Melinda dP. Bandalaria formally announced the new consortium that will push forward open and eDistance learning in the country: the Consortium of Open Distance Education Providers in the Philippines (CODEPP). The said consortium consists of eight founding members, namely: University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), Benguet State University (BSU), Cavite State University (CvSU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Ifugao State University (IFSU), Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), and John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU). The aforementioned educational institutions solidified CODEPP through a Consortium Strategic Planning Workshop conducted last 17 August 2022. With this, academic collaboration including program development and offering, cross-enrollment, open educational resources sharing, and research collaborations; capacity building through faculty and student exchange; international collaboration; and international accreditation, would be possible.

Dr. Bandalaria also introduced the ICDE GAC Team Philippines (ICDE GAC PH) as part of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Global Campaign for Open Flexible and Distance Learning (OFDL) Asia. This 9-month campaign aims to formulate plans to be implemented during the campaign period; increase awareness and practice of OFDL as well as formulation of supportive policies at the institutional and national levels; and contribute to institution building through capacity building and trainings and be part of the collaborative undertaking for blended, online, and open learning in the Philippines. The said campaign has already started last September 2022 and will conclude in May 2023.

Finally, she also unveiled the International Conference on Open and Distance eLearning 2023 which will be conducted in August 2023 and will coincide with the ASEANnale 2023. This will uncover more best practices and innovation related to the implementation of open and distance learning within the ASEAN region and across the globe.
